Alexander Zhong, Esq. is a skilled attorney licensed to practice law in Maryland and DC, with a focus on personal injury and criminal defense.
Mr. Zhong attended the University of Arizona, James E. Rogers College of Law, with full scholarship and TechLaw Fellowship. He got his Juris Doctor degree in the end of 2021 after 7 semesters of study, which is one semester ahead of most peers. Long before that, Mr. Zhong graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1998 from Tsinghua University in Beijing, China, which is the Chinese equivalent to MIT, after which he received his Master of Science degree in Genetics in 2001 from the Chinese Academy of Sciences in Hubei, China. He also received his Master of Science degree in Molecular Biology in 2005 from Albert Einstein College of Medicine in Bronx, New York, and received his Master of Science degree in Mathematics from the University of Connecticut in 2009.
He received law clerk training in two top law firms in Maryland, and then worked for a top law firm as an attorney for 20 months. During this period, he brought over 200 clients into the law firms and served these clients in the field of personal injury and criminal defense. He is a zealous advocate for his clients’ rights, and his exceptional service has earned him many five-star reviews from satisfied clients.
Mr. Zhong’s deep understanding of car insurance policies roots in his five-year training and work in GEICO, which is a top car insurance company in the USA. In 2012, Mr. Zhong authored a book titled“Risk Management for Driving in the USA,”in which he explains how to purchase suitable and cost-efficient car insurance to protect drivers and passengers, and how to protect oneself to the best extent after accidents happen. This 300-page book contains 100,000 Chinese characters and about 10 illustrations.
To broaden his understanding in insurance, Mr. Zhong got licenses in life insurance, health insurance, title insurance and as a public adjuster. Such a background enables him to provide the most comprehensive and best service for people suffering after car accidents.
In 2025, in recognition of Attorney Alexander Zhong's outstanding service to numerous clients and exceptional achievements, he was selected a"Super Lawyers Rising Star 2026"— an honor awarded to only 2.5% of attorneys.
Mr. Zhong has made three major contributions to the protection of civil rights for Chinese Americans: He is one of the founders and the first president of the Association for Education Fairness, a grassroots advocacy organization that filed complaints and lawsuits against MCPS for its discrimination against Asian American students. He is a founding member and board member of the Chinese American Parent Association of Montgomery County. He was the lead organizer in the Greater Washington, D.C. area for the nationwide rally in support of NYPD officer Peter Liang. Outside of his legal work, Mr. Zhong has traveled to over 12 countries and is an avid marathon runner. He has completed six half marathons and one full marathon, with a personal best of under two hours in the half marathon. In his spare time, Jiayu Zhong enjoys doing fun and meaningful things, including writing popular science articles for his public WeChat account.
